"Why I Should Be Chosen Queen Of Queens"

I am ready and equipped to take on the International title of Queen of Queens because I am a leader. This is a tremendous opportunity to implement my platform, share some of the life lessons I've learned and make a difference by continuing what I’m already doing…being a positive role model in my community. I also know that I am the right person to step into this position because I share the same goals that this competition stands for…community service, volunteerism and a commitment to overall achievement and excellence. I am a person who makes things happen and evokes change. For example, I am deeply proud of a program I helped to co-create. It actually evolved as so many other necessities of invention…out of need. Northern Maine is home to four Battered Women’s Shelters. Unfortunately, those shelters came about out of the need of some many women and children seeking a place of protection, a safe haven from violence..and a resource toward a new beginning…independent of fear. Many of these women are in need of jobs and gainful employment. They look to local consignment shops and Salvation Army thrift store to provide a little to none…to moderately priced clothing for job interviews and subsequent work clothing. As a well known local television personality, many viewers often compliment me on my wardrobe choices. But it wasn’t until one woman I interviewed during a story said to me “I wish I could start my life over…I’d be a newscaster like you…wear the clothes you wear and nobody would look down on me…” that I realized how pivotal the role self image plays in one’s life… how the image we see reflecting back at us in a mirror LITERALLY can determine our paths in life….I thought if I help change one woman’s poor self image…the way pageants and a career in television changed mine….I’d be passing an immeasurable gift. I created the program “Suited for Success”…I collect women’s suits and professional clothing from local career women and donate them to the local salvation army. Many of those clothes have enabled low income women to achieve gainful employment and begin self sufficient new lives. I’m deeply proud of that! If I am chosen Queen of Queens I plan to spend the next year making appearances and doing speaking engagements educating groups, organizations and young people about the importance of empowering one’s community through leadership, academic excellence, quality of character, and commitment to community service. I’m active in several international organizations including Business and Professional Women’s Clubs/USA and the Presque Isle Kiwanis Club. My main goal is to promote this pageant system…I believe that through my life's challenges and story…I can inspire others to rise above their own life's challenges and put themselves on the paths of purpose we're all destined to be on...
